USA Surfing
From 2019 through 2021 I worked on the documentary Represent, following the the best women surfers as they vied for a spot on the first ever USA Surfing Team in the Olympics. The project took me across the globe chasing surf in San Clemente, California, Waco, Texas, Surf City, El Salvador, and Miyazaki, Japan. I fell in love with the sport and the amazing athletes who blazed a path to the first surfing gold.
Represent is available on streaming on Peacock TV.

Hindsight
Hindsight is a diary of sorts, a personal record of Los Angeles in 2020.
As Los Angeles locked down, I reached for the comfort I have always found in photography. Looking at the world through a lens offered me the distance to process what was happening. But it is impossible for any photographer or artist to remain completely separate from their subject; to observe something is to take a part of it into yourself, which is doubly true when the subject is a pandemic. Hindsight explores the intersection of universal and personal, public and intimate, a mixed and confusing landscape that we were all navigating in 2020. It examines the contradictions created in a moment where we have all the time in the world but nothing to fill it with and how it feels to be wholly connected but deeply isolated.
Hindsight was shot primarily on Kodak 35mm film between March and December 2020. I was unsure what the final product would be when I started, but I knew I wanted to create a physical artifact of this time. It was important to me that these images would exist beyond screens and hard drives, no matter the finished piece, and I am so proud of this finished work.
